Black Madonna
It’s a blessed dayclean in Holy Week, and I’m enjoying a deeper exploration of religion from the perspective of womanism in theology. The stories in the Bible and other holy books read so much differently for me when Black Women are more than background characters in them. Emile Sande’ says is so eloquently in Read All About It: it’s bout time we got some airplay of our version of events.
I encountered stories of the Black Madonna several years ago and it completely transformed my approach to this faith journey. QueenSiS, no matter what our religious disposition, when we think about the healing, blessings, and ‘way made out of no way’ experiences we’ve had with our own Black Queen Mothers, Aunties, and Sisters, we can easily connect with the Black Madonna ʳ she is us. #BlackMadonna
