Womanist WinsDay: Freedom

This week’s podcast is part II of the Queens Roundtable discussion, and it is a blessing to have the freedom of this platform to gather with these QueenSisters. I’ve been thinking a lot about freedom lately. Probably a combination of themes amplified during the last to month in the overall political atmosphere of attacks on freedom in the US right now.

About 30 years ago, the amazing Angie Stone (rest in power Queen) assembled over 70 SiStars for Freedom on the Panther soundtrack (there is also a rap edition by a dozen or more lady MCs of the 90s). This soundtrack is running through my mind - all these lies and propaganda that cause us and others to make decisions that take away our freedoms. But give thanks for the power to keep or take back our freedom by exposing and rejecting as many of these lies as possible. I’m working with extra intention to adopt and embrace my own standards of value, building on foundations established by our beloved Ancestors, so I can be forever free. #LiveFree
